FBMA Marine Hull 1025 - Pentalina Launch

Monday, May 12, 2008

In February 2007, FBMA Marine inc. won an order from Pentland Ferries in the UK to build a 70m car and passenger ferry for the north of Scotland linking the mainland with the islands of Orkney. The vessel will replace an older car ferry and provide a larger more efficient vessel for carrying passenger / cars and freight to and from the islands.

The vessel is catamaran hull form and has a steel hull with an aluminum superstructure. It has been specifically designed to meet the harsh conditions in the North of Scotland. This is also a very modern and highly technical vessel which meets all the current strict regulations of operation in UK waters.

The islands of Orkney are located at the top of the British Isles and have a population of around twenty thousands. There is a very strong agriculture and tourism industry that this new vessel will help to promote.
