Race to Reduce nominated in Asian CSR Awards 2010Friday, October 15, 2010
The Race to Reduce Challenge, the group-wide effort of Aboitiz team leaders and team members to cut down on energy, water and paper consumption, is among the 13 finalists in the 9th Asian CSR Awards.
Aside from Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc., the other finalists are Kraft Foods Philippines, Inc.; MEASAT Broadcast Network Systems; Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation; Shell Indonesia; Smart Communications, Inc.; The Link Management Limited; Vestas Wind; Technology India Pvt Ltd.; Tetra Pak Pakistan; UltraTech Cement Limited (Unit: Vikram Cement Works); and Unilever Indonesia Tbk.
Of the 13 finalists, five winners and eight excellence awardees will be chosen. They will be honored in ceremonies to be held at Crowne Plaza Mutiara Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia on Oct. 22, 2010.
YABhg Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, will be the event’s guest of honor.
This year’s awards attracted 141 entries representing 99 companies from 15 countries. It recognizes and honors companies in Asia for their projects and programs in corporate social responsibility (CSR). These projects should demonstrate the company's leadership, sincerity and ongoing commitment in incorporating ethical values, compliance with legal requirements, respect for individuals, involvement in communities and protection of the environment into the way they do business.
The awards are given in five categories: Best Workplace Practices, Concern for Health, Environmental Excellence, Poverty Alleviation and Support and Improvement of Education.
The Asian CSR Awards is Asia's premier awards program on CSR and is an inherent component of the annual regional AFCSR conference and Expo. It is presented by the Ramon V. del Rosario, Sr. AIM Center for Corporate Social Responsibility, a research and program center within the Asian Institute of Management, and Intel.
