AboitizPower signs Cleanergy supply deal with SFELAPCONovember 11, 2009
AboitizPower will supply renewable energy to San Fernando Electric Light and Power Company (SFELAPCO) for three years starting Dec. 26, 2009. Cleanergy, the AboitizPower brand of clean and renewable energy, will be sourced from AboitizPower's Tiwi-Makban geothermal facilities, as well as from its Hedcor-Irisan hydroelectric plant in Benguet.
Aboitiz Equity income for the first nine months increases by 74%November 3, 2009
Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. (AEV) ended the first nine months of the year with a consolidated net income of P5.9 billion (bn), up 74% versus the same period last year. This translates to P1.05 in earnings per share for the first nine months of 2009. The power group still accounted for the lion’s share at 54%, followed by the banking group at 26%, the food group at 14% and the transport group at 6%.

AboitizPower Corporation (AP) wholly-owned subsidiary Therma Luzon, Inc. assumed on October 1 dispatch control of the 700-megawatt (MW) contracted capacity of the Pagbilao coal-fired power plant in Quezon province. Therma Luzon submitted the highest offer of US$691 million to be appointed as IPP Administrator (IPPA) of the Pagbilao plant in a competitive bid conducted by the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (PSALM) on August 28, 2009. This amount represents the current value of the series of monthly payments using PSALM discount rates from October 2009 to August 2025.

Aboitiz Power Corporation (AP) ended the first semester of 2009 with a core net income of P1.9 billion, recording a 15% year-on-year (YoY) decline. For the period in review, the company had a non-recurring net loss of P268 million (versus last year’s non-recurring net loss of P122 million), which resulted from the revaluation of dollar-denominated loans and placements of the parent company and some of its associate companies and the one-off expenses related to the acquisition of Tiwi-Makban geothermal plants. This brings AP’s total net income to P1.6 billion, which translates to an earnings per share of P0.22.
