Aboitiz Equity 1H income up 228% to P11.3bn

For the period ending June 30, 2010, Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. (AEV) recorded a consolidated net income of P11.3 billion (bn), up 228% year-on-year (YOY). This translates to P2.04 in earnings per share for the first semester of 2010. The power group still accounted for the lion’s share at 85%. The banking and food groups’ income share were roughly the same at 8%, offsetting the transport group’s negative share for the first six months of the year.

Aboitiz Transport System (ATS) operated with very limited capacity for the first half of the year since most of its SuperFerry vessels and freighters were on regular maintenance and drydocking. Consequently, its local freight and passage business has seen an overall reduction in its financial performance.

AboitizPower 1H core net income grew to P12.9 billion

AboitizPower Corporation’s (AboitizPower) consolidated net income was up 696% YoY increase, from P1.6 billion (bn) to P12.7 bn for the first half of 2010. This translates to an earnings per share of P1.73. Foreign exchange losses that resulted from the revaluation of consolidated dollar-denominated loans and placements resulted to a non-recurring loss of P156 mn. Adjusting for this one-off, the company recorded a 590% YoY growth in its core net income, from P1.9 bn to P12.9 bn.

AboitizPower boosts stable power supply in the country

AboitizPower Corp., through subsidiary Redondo Peninsula Energy, Inc. (RP Energy), has announced its decision to pursue investment in constructing a Greenfield project, a 300-MW coal-fired power plant in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. RP Energy is a joint venture between AboitizPower and Taiwan Cogeneration Corp.
