GeothermalThe Tiwi plant is located in Albay Province in the Bicol region. The first of the geothermal facility’s four generating plants, was commissioned in 1979. The units have a total capacity of 289 MW. The plant’s generated power are sold to the WESM and through bilateral contracts. The plant is operated by AP Renewables, Inc., that won the competitive bid conducted by PSALM in July 2008.
The Makban facility is located in the border of Laguna and Batangas provinces in Southern Luzon, Philippines. The first of the five generating plants was commissioned in 1979. Combined total capacity of the plants is 458 MW. The plant’s generated power are sold to the WESM and through bilateral contracts. The plant is also operated by AP Renewables Inc., which won the bid conducted by PSALM in July 2008.
The Tiwi-Makban facilities, which recorded a combined peak generation of 467 MW in 2009, are AboitizPower’s first geothermal power assets.
